What is Good and what is Bad???

Who am I to say what is good and what is bad? Every one have their own perception and can judge between the both. When I was a child I used to investigate for heroes and villains in my surroundings just like in movies. But, once I came across a line – “Manchi vaallu chedda vaallu ani evaru undaru, avasaraanni batti manchi vaallu, avakaasaanni batti cheddavaallu avutharu.” (There is no one like good one and bad one, necessities make them good and opportunities make them bad). This may not be true always, but just think, the one who is an enemy to me is a fried to some one.

When you are in a situation to make a choice of a good person, whom would you choose? Arjuna or Karna? I would choose Karna. Why did every thing go along Arjuna? Why did Lord Krishna choose Arjuna? Well, he has his own reasons. With a world of billions of people and billions of attitudes can we judge a person or an incident? 99% of the world condemned 9/11 attack, but what about those innocent civilians who are laying their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan? What is the world’s response to Osama’s views in a video released saying “You permitted Bush to complete his first term, and stranger still, chose him for a second term, which gave him a clear mandate from you – with your full knowledge and consent – to continue to murder our people in Iraq and Afghanistan. Then you claim to be innocent. The innocence of yours is like my innocence of the blood of your sons on the 11th – were I to claim such a thing.”

When my neighbor saw her 3 year old son attacking his friend with some bad words; she came hurrying to stop him. The next minute, the boy showed an injury made by his friend; she frowned with herself hitting the boy with bad words. Where does this land our children? Universally speaking, violence and hatred can be categorized in to bad, while love and humanity in to good. There are people who support violence and hatred, but I have never known any one who did not want love and humanity. Violence and hatred with a reason of “eye for an eye” seems to be justifiable but by the time we realize the pain we lose both the eyes darkening our vision. When you hurt a person and then reveal the harm he has dine to you, can win sympathy of few but when you can forgive and still shower live and affection, need not say any reasons, it will win all the hearts. But, I know patience also can wait only up to a certain time.

For some, killing and being killed is a sacrifice. It can be at the borders, but is it so at a city centre where people don’t even know what they are dying for. These disasters are fruits of hatred tree whose roots are within us and we are the one’s who are making it strong. We discriminate and hate people based on their birth also. Be it a religion or a caste. Whenever we think of a muslim we think of Laden, not Abdul kalam. At times a small incident frames our opinion – “Ah! This fellow is really a bad man.” We start searching the nonsense about him, leaving all the good things behind. One of my friends hates one of his classmates vey much. They always quarreled for petty things. They were on a mission to insult each other. One day the one left this world in a toad accident. My friend was the first to take him to the hospital, later to his house and was there crying the whole day. I was shocked and when asked why, he replied “I know I hurt him badly. I can’t change it now at least I could make his soul happy. He is not a bad fellow. I know that, but I was not ready to accept it.” There is no one who can exactly prove the existence after death. So, how happy his friend would have been if he had accepted it earlier.

Incidentally or unknowingly we hurt or curse many people. Sruthi and chaitanya always compete for first rank. Though Chaitanya knows that Sruthi feels bad and cries a lot if she gets second position, he can’t quit. It is a competition and the only goal is to win. This is incidentally. This is our duty which is a fair competition and we can’t stop striving. Raju and his girl friend departed. I cursed here a lot for breaking my friend’s heart. Later, when I came to know that their relation could not last because of both of them, I not only felt sorry for her but also for myself for hating her these many days. This is unknowingly. Here comes the logic that no one is good or bad by birth. It’s all good or bad feelings we have on them.

Yeh! World hain naa world, iss mein do tarah ki log hote hain. Ek iss figure mein right side hotein hain, doosra left side. (White symbolizes good and black symbolizes bad). Many of us, no almost all of us, think that we are on right side. But are we really? Leave “eye for an eye” principle, strengthen the roots of love in your hearts and share the fruits with every one.
